Explanation/Summary of the NHL Goalie Depth Charts
Welcome to the NHL Depth Chart section of the website. It’s easy to view and use for writers or fans wondering what goalies are next on deck for their respective NHL teams. I made the depth charts with the idea of making the information as accessible and simple as possible. It can be difficult to know which goalies belong to which organization and so here is where I will update the depth charts to ensure everyone knows how many goalies and which goalies each respective NHL organizations have.
I left out goalies on AHL/ECHL contracts because they can’t play in the NHL this season anyways. I also split the depth charts up into which goalies are in the pro system and which goalies are in the amateur system. I define the pro system as being in North America playing for the NHL, AHL, ECHL, or loaned out to some other pro team. For the amateur system it’s every other goalie that is either in juniors or hasn’t yet made the jump from Europe to North America. I also added in Date of Birth so writers/fans can use that to decide if a goalie is running out of time to get a NHL spot or is ahead of schedule developmentally.
